Interview With Gen Ryan:

  1. Can you tell us a little about your books?
I write a wide variety of romance novels. Mostly contemporary and thrillers! I am heavily a mood writer which is why there are two very different types that I write. Writing is extremely therapeutic for me.
  1. How did you choose the genre you write in?
It is all mood based. I love romance, but just like a lot of things in life, there are different types. So, depending on how I’m feeling, that’s the type of sub-genre within romance I write in J I have a soft spot for romantic suspense and thrillers though!
  1. What book is your newest release?
My newest book, When We Were Young, just released November 4th. It’s a contemporary romance-be sure to bring tissues!
  1. What is a usual writing day like for you, how is it structured?
I write based on my mood. I try to write everyday but I’m a college professor and time sometimes just isn’t possible. But when I do write, I write my best during the day. I don’t give myself goals, because if I don’t meet them I feel bad (hahaha).
  1. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
I have my office which I love but I rarely use it. I usually write in my chair in my living room with the TV on. I need background noise!
  1. For a reader who hasn't read your books yet, which book do you suggest they start with?
Gosh, it would really depend what they like to read. If they like thrillers with romance, then Beautiful Masterpiece.
If they want contemporary, I’d say When We Were Young (Bring tissues) or Three Empty Words (Rom com)
  1. If your fairy godmother waved her wand and whisked you away to the location of your choice, which place would you choose, and why?
I’d go forward in time a few months when my husband is due home. He’s on a deployment right now and the emotions that I’ve gone through were my inspirations for When We Were Young.
  1. What are writing projects are you currently working on?
I’m finishing up the last book in the Hopelessly Devoted Series and working on a short story for a project that hasn’t been announced yet J I’ve got so many things in the works. It’s exciting!
